I come home today
And she's sitting on the sofa
With an undone strap of her bra
And we're sharing our beautiful days
Intertwined conversation
Beautiful admiration
For the twins and the goddesses that we bring out to be
Time passes, giggling mingling
We graze each other over tea
She says to me
She, she says to me
There, there will be a time Ditty
I came home last month
When he left me
Dumped me
SMSed me
And she was there
Collecting the pieces
Of my sadness
She was there
To help me undress
And peel every layer of torture
And throw it chronologically into her bottomless ears
She was there when I cried,
Confused, I realised,
I was denied, love
She, she says to me
There, there will be a time Ditty
I came home again
She says she's been day dreaming
Drifting off to the world where long distance
Is long distance no more
She says she sees herself
Holding hands with the man she loves
She spends the day scrubbing the bygone dirt and filth
Off the walls in my apartment
She marvels at the cat
She calls it a brat
And presents herself to me
Brown, deep, sublime
Her presence is like the warm winter sun
That penetrates the depths of my chest
And enables me
To see this side of myself
To be alone and suffice
She, she says to me
There, there will be a time Ditty
We go to buy groceries
I'm wandering
Still sundering from the thuds
Of my past, falling at every block
Of cheese, meat, cleaners veggies
Every song
Every One Four Five
That takes me back
Into time
She looks at me
Gives me a smile
And says to me
There will be a time Ditty
When you'll be happy in Food City

On an Island

He's begging aimlessly
His eyes, they speak to me
They, they're building smarter things
Oh, they, they forgot the streets
Is this how it was supposed to be
Life devoid of freedom, love and reason
Oh, oh city life
I bid you goodbye
I am now a girl on an island
Now a girl on an island
Now a girl on an island
We, we were meant to be brothers
Not, not silent neighbours
Corporations and prostitution
They spell pollution
Is this how it was supposed to be
Life devoid of freedom, love and reason
Oh, oh city life
I bid you good bye
I am now a girl on an island
Now a girl on an island
Now a girl on an island

Eulogy for a Sparrow

The Earth is turning at the perfect pace
The tides are rising at the perfect pace
You have arrived with your perfect face
Yet, we're sat here waiting
What was the name
Of that little birdie
Singing songs to me
What was the fate
Surrounding her end
Has she gone to sleep
Little birdie
Sing again
We're sat waiting
Oh she's gone
She's gone
Never to be seen
Eulogy for the sparrow
We sing a
Eulogy for the sparrow
We sing a
Never come, oh tomorrow
We wish you
Never come, oh tomorrow
We wish you
What was the time
You let yourself loose
With grass and greens and bees
Moist eyes and clear skies
And clean air to breathe
Oh you dipped yourself in the stream and
Jumped daringly
Oh they're gone they're gone
Never to be seen
Eulogy for the forests
We sing a
Eulogy for the forests
We sing a
Never come, oh tomorrow
We wish you
Never come, oh tomorrow
We wish you
Oh we are sat here crying
Who will be the next to go
Oh we are sat here crying
Who will be the next to go
Eulogy for tomorrow
We sing a
Eulogy for tomorrow
We sing a
Never come, oh tomorrow
We wish you
Never come, oh tomorrow
We wish you

Sadness persists
Because
Anyone can send a Facebook justification
A letter, a sympathetic reparation
A bunch of words, a careful and thoughtful nuance
To touch only from a distance
For these words didn't have to be faxed from two miles away
To someone who transatlanticised for you back in the day
It's only fair to say
Sadness persists
Sadness persists
Because
Your liberation comes at a cost
And that cost is the brewing and spewing of my mercy
I was meant to believe
Spasmodically
That I was the one with the insanity
While you baked yourself silly
Morning to blackness
Filled your bags with all your personal property
Disdained me nonchalantly
And all I spurred was "Stay"
It's only fair to say
Sadness persists
In a second, you are not mine
In a second, you are not mine
Sadness persists
Because
Help, is not something that can be made to realise
Because it's not ice cream
Or a spoon of digene
That can be digested automatically
Help is what you give carefully
Help is what you accept consciously
Accepting the ghosts of your past
Accepting that darkness needs its masks
To be removed
And had it been you
And me alone
It would have been another way
It's only fair to say
Sadness persists
You left nothing behind and I was all alone
You left nothing behind and I was all alone
Sadness persists
Because
Man is not an animal
Capable of receiving or of loving unconditionally
Those in love will find themselves lucky
And those who are alone will feel solitary
Because this, is a cruel anomaly
The existence of an ordered coherent Society,
If it was for individuality
I would have known a better way
It's only fair to say
Sadness persists

Don't tell me you love me
I would only cry
I would only cry
Big long rivers
From my eyes
From my eyes
Don't play Death Cab for Cutie
I fall back in time
I fall back in time
You took our love story
Put it on the line
Put it on the line
Maybe I was under the impression
I could always always ask you questions
I can't help falling in love with you
I can't help falling back in love
Don't tell me you hurt me
I would only cry
I would only cry
Big long rivers
From my eyes
From my eyes
Don't play Death Cab for Cutie
I fall back in time
I fall back in time
You took our love story
Put it on the line
Put it on the line
Maybe I was under the impression
I could always always ask you questions
I can't help falling in love with you
I can't help falling back in love

Garden

Today seems like it's not my day
So I smile and I bow down to it
Sometimes the sun, it burns my skin
So I apply boroline to it
The winter says it'll never be warm
So I put on my best jacket
My mother's love's like it'll never get old
So I plunge into it
Remember you were always wild
Don't let them tame you through it
Life gives lemons make lemonade
So I find the biggest bucket
Loneliness plays hide and seek
So I bell her with a locket
Children are playing on the street
I join them in their cricket
Friends say time togethers' time well spent
So I move closer to them
Money's becoming a burden now
So I lighten my pockets
All the greens - they are chopping it down
So we go grow a forest
Smoke from the cars is killing my cat
So I built her a garden
I built her a beautiful garden
I built her a beautiful garden

History of Us

Bye love, bye sea
Bye gadgets and yummy tea
Good bye
Exchange of melodies
Bye mentored poetry
Good bye
Hullo to history
To that's felt and rather deep
Hullo
Hello, Hello, Hello to the beautiful history of us
Hello, Hello, Hello to the beautiful history of us
What has no definitive beginning
Can have no definitive end
Two who when together are lovers can at distance continue as friends
Cause when, chasms can be crossed with mere swipes on a screen
Or a ride through the sky, we needn't awaken from this dream and
Let's not pretend, that we didn't expect this
We agreed to play one part in one act
Don't you ever forget this and
Remember that history is written by victors
And this victory simply simmers on the backburner for now
Hello, Hello, Hello to the beautiful history of us
Hello, Hello, Hello to the beautiful history of us

Under the Sun
04:57
|
|
||
She laughs in the middle of the night
With two boys who hold her tightly
Her hair is blonde and she, oh she dresses in saris
I saw her talking to the trees
I saw her walking steadily
Trenches that she had dug with her hands, oh they have come to life
She says, she wants to live under the sun
She says her boys were meant to run
No schools for them
The earth's enough
She floats like a honey bee
The boys swim in the mud and they've been
Running around, scooting down and touching ground
She's happy
We meet in the mornings to say hullo
She looks me in the eyes, extends her soul
Took me so long to see she's inside of me
She says, she wants to live under the sun
She says her boys were meant to run
No school for them
The Earth's enough
